Ravens escape against Cincinnati 31-24

Andy Dalton is one impressive rookie quarter. Sure he had three interceptions, but he threw for 373 yards and one touchdown against the vaunted Ravens’ defense. There were several times the Ravens (7-3) defensive backs were beaten deep by Cincinnati (6-4) receivers.

It didn’t really seem to matter by the end of the day, though. Dalton proved he was a rookie when Terrell Suggs wrapped him up and he threw the ball out of bounds for intentional grounding. That was effectively the end of the game in the Ravens’ 31-24 victory.

Reed fumbles away Ravens chances at a victory in Seattle

After a big comes another disappointing loss for the Baltimore Ravens (6-3). The Seattle Seahawks (3-6) used three Baltimore turnovers and rugged running by Marshawn Lynch to upset the Ravens 22-17.

David Reed, a wide receiver/kick returner, fumbled two kickoff returns which cost the Ravens six points. He also had an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty which pushed the Ravens back on an offensive possession.

Wilson’s INT delivers victory, bails out Cameron

It was a familiar script for the Baltimore Ravens (9-4) Monday night. A big lead heading in to the fourth quarter and a struggling second half offense. That’s summed up the Ravens for much of the season and the Houston Texans (5-8) just followed in the path of other teams.

Quarterback Joe Flacco got the offense off to a fast start that could have been faster if Derrick Mason would have caught a perfectly thrown ball down the middle of the field. Instead, Mason dropped it. Towards the end of the quarter, however, Flacco was able to get the offense going away and running back Willis McGahee finished off the drive with a one-yard run.

Ravens trounce Carolina 37-13

The Baltimore Ravens (7-3) took care of business like they were supposed to Sunday afternoon. Quarterback Joe Flacco and the offense struck early. On Baltimore’s second play of the game Flacco hit T.J. Houshmandzadeh on a post pattern for 56 yards. The strike gave Baltimore a 7-0 lead. The Ravens never looked en route to their 37-13 victory.

Carolina (1-9) gave it a good effort for the first three quarters of the game, but looked to be just playing out the string in the fourth quarter. Brian St. Pierre, who was signed off the street Tuesday, played fairly well considering the circumstances. Baltimore was able to return two of St. Pierre’s passes for touchdowns, their first two defensive touchdowns of the season.

Ravens blast Giants 24-10

Week three of the preseason is considered the “dress rehearsal” for NFL teams. If Saturday night was the Baltimore Ravens’ dress rehearsal the show should be a good one this season.

Quarterback Joe Flacco and offensive coordinator Cam Cameron didn’t waste any time establishing the fact that the Ravens will be able to pass the ball this year. Flacco was 21-for-34 for 229 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. He completed passes to multiple receivers and even was Baltimore’s leading rusher. Flacco’s two touchdowns came to Anquan Boldin and Todd Heap over the middle of the field. In the past two seasons, Flacco may not have thrown it over the middle even with single coverage on the receiver, but he looks much improved in 2010.

Ravens draft seven, get depth

The Baltimore Ravens began their 2010 NFL Draft by getting criticized for trading out of the first round for the first time in team history. It turned out, however, that this move was another shrewd one for the Ravens front office.

Baltimore got three picks from Denver so the Broncos could draft Tim Tebow. The Ravens used their picks to draft a linebacker and two tight ends. With their other picks, Baltimore drafted two defensive linemen, a wide receiver and an offensive linemen.
