The Baltimore Ravens (12-4) accomplished their goal Sunday afternoon with a 24-16 victory over the youthful Cincinnati Bengals (9-7).
Baltimore was led by Ray Rice, who gained 191 yards on 24 carries. He added two touchdowns, each on huge plays. Rice’s second touchdown, a 51-yard run, iced the game for Baltimore because it put them up 24-13 with less than six minutes to go in the game.
Aside from Rice, quarterback Joe Flacco had one of his better games Sunday. Flacco only threw for 130 yards and one touchdown, but went 15-for-19 and hit Dennis Pitta for a crucial touchdown right before halftime to give the Ravens a 17-3 lead.
The defense did what they needed to do. They didn’t get to Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton often, but Terrell Suggs did sack Dalton when time was running short on Cincinnati. Suggs also forced a Jermaine Gresham fumble that was recovered by Bernard Pollard.
Billy Cundiff made his lone field goal attempt and the Ravens finished 6-0 in the division for the first time ever and clinched the No. 2 seed for the first time since 2006.
