Baltimore will be playing their third preseason game on Saturday night. The third game is generally regarded as the most important preseason game because the starters play at least a half, and generally, halfway through the third quarter.
The Ravens are off to a strong start, allowing just 15 points on defense. On offense, however, the Ravens haven’t done much with their first team. Joe Flacco has looked good completing passes to a lot of different receivers, but he still needs to get the team in the end zone.
This game it will be interesting to see how some of the players on the fringe of making the team play. There always seem to be one or two players that single themselves out that will or won’t make the final roster. That one guy this season seems to be Prince Miller.
Miller has had some decent preseason games, including a 57-yard return in the Carolina game. He is an exciting player and is versatile because he can return punts and play cornerback for a team that could have a need in the secondary.
This season may hinge on how the offense does, as seasons in the past have. The defense is getting older and is banged up before the season has even started, so Flacco and new acquisitions Anquan Boldin and Donte’ Stallworth may end up carrying the team. The third preseason game may preview how dominant, or not, the offense can be in the 2010 season.
